What heart rate zones actually are

The edges get fuzzy because some coaches split it into six or seven zones, others set them by lactate levels instead of heart rate. Women sometimes get lower cut-offs in certain systems, and altitude throws off heart rate accuracy, so don’t take the numbers as absolute truth.
