About Utilorax

Utilorax is a free, growing collection of calculators, converters and everyday tools built to give you a fast, accurate answer without downloads, sign-ups or clutter.

What is here

The site is organised into six sections, and everything in them is free with no account:

• Calculators for money, health, maths and everyday questions — loans, mortgages, interest, BMI, calories, percentages, dates and more.
• Unit converters covering length, weight, temperature, volume, area, speed, data, time, pressure, energy, angle, power, frequency and force — each with the formula and a reference table rather than just a number.
• Text and developer tools — word counting, case conversion, JSON and Base64, hashes, colour and CSS generators, timers, and hardware testers for your keyboard, mouse, webcam and screen.
• QR and barcode generators, plus a scanner that reads a code from your camera.
• Document tools for PDFs, spreadsheets, Word files and images.
• Templates for the emails and letters most people dread writing.

Why we built it

Most calculators online are buried under pop-ups, or spread across a dozen different sites, or ask you to sign up to see an answer you could work out on paper. We wanted one clean, reliable place that simply works and respects your time — including on a phone, on a slow connection, on the first tap.

Your numbers stay yours

Nearly every tool here runs entirely inside your browser, so what you type never leaves your device and results appear as you type. A few genuinely cannot work that way — document conversion and password hashing need a server — and rather than gloss over that, we spell out exactly which ones and what happens to your data in the privacy policy. Uploaded files are deleted straight after they are converted.

Accuracy, and being honest about limits

Our formulas follow established, published standards — the Mifflin-St Jeor equation for metabolic rate, standard amortisation maths for loans, WHO thresholds for BMI categories. Where a result is an estimate rather than a fact, the tool says so on the page instead of dressing a guess up as a number. Where a figure depends on your country, your lender or your doctor, we say that too. A calculator that quietly hides its assumptions is worse than no calculator.
