About the Instagram QR Code Generator
This is a plain URL QR code that encodes your profile address — https://instagram.com/<username>. There is nothing Instagram-specific in the code itself; scanning it simply opens that link, which lands on your profile in the app if it is installed, or in a browser if it is not. Enter your username without the @ and this tool builds the address for you. Shops, cafés, market stalls, packaging inserts, event backdrops and business cards all use them to turn “find us on Instagram” into one scan.
Because it is a static code, it works forever and never contacts our servers — but the flip side is that it cannot be edited. If you change your Instagram handle, every printed code points at a username that no longer exists, and handles get recycled, so an abandoned one can end up pointing at a stranger. Settle on your handle before you commit it to print. It also depends on Instagram keeping its profile URL format, which is stable but not something anyone outside Meta controls.
Print it at a size that suits the reading distance — roughly 10:1 distance to width as a rule of thumb — and keep the quiet zone around it clear of your logo or border artwork, which is the most common cause of a code that will not scan. Frequently asked questions
Do I include the @ symbol?
No — just the username. If you paste one with an @ it is removed automatically, and the profile link is built for you.
Is this the same as the Nametag QR code inside the Instagram app?
No. Instagram has its own in-app scannable code. This one is an ordinary QR code containing your public profile URL, which means any camera or scanner app can read it, not just Instagram.
What happens if I change my username later?
Printed codes will point at the old handle and break. Instagram usernames can be claimed by someone else after you release them, so decide on your handle before printing.
Does it work for business and creator profiles?
Yes. Any public profile works the same way — the URL format does not differ by account type. A private profile will still open, but visitors will only see the follow prompt.
Does it track how many people scanned it?
No. It is a static code with no analytics. Instagram’s own insights will show profile visits, but they will not distinguish a QR scan from any other visit.
