About the Mute Video
Mute Video removes the audio track from a clip and leaves the video untouched. It copies the video stream without re-encoding, so it is fast and the picture quality is unchanged. All processing happens in your browser with ffmpeg (WebAssembly), so your video is never uploaded — it is private and free with no watermark. It works best on short clips, since the work runs on your device rather than a server.
Handy when a clip has background noise, music you cannot share, or a voice you would rather drop before posting — or when you plan to add your own soundtrack later.
Frequently asked questions
Is my video uploaded?
No. Muting runs entirely in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
Does muting change the video quality?
No. The video is copied as-is and only the audio is removed, so the picture is unchanged.
Can I get the audio back?
Not from the muted file — keep your original. If you want the audio separately, use the Video to MP3 tool first.
Is it fast?
Yes. Because it copies the video and just drops the audio, muting is one of the quickest operations.
