About the Video to MP3

Video to MP3 extracts the audio from a video and saves it as an MP3 file. It is the quick way to keep a song, a talk, a podcast clip or any sound from a video without the picture. All processing happens in your browser with ffmpeg (WebAssembly), so your video is never uploaded — it is private and free with no watermark. It works best on short clips, since the work runs on your device rather than a server.

It encodes a good-quality MP3 from the clip's audio. If the video has no sound, there is nothing to extract. To keep the picture but drop the sound instead, use the Mute Video tool.

Frequently asked questions

Is my video uploaded?

No. The audio is extracted entirely in your browser; your video stays on your device.

What quality is the MP3?

It encodes a good-quality MP3 (variable bitrate) from the video's audio track.

What if the video has no sound?

Then there is nothing to extract. The tool only works on videos that have an audio track.

Can I get other audio formats?

Yes — choose MP3 (with a 128, 192 or 320 kbps bitrate), lossless WAV, or OGG Vorbis. For the picture without sound, use Mute Video instead.
