About the WiFi QR Code Generator
A WiFi QR code encodes a small, structured string that phones recognise: WIFI:T:WPA;S:networkname;P:password;; — the security type, the network name (SSID) and the password. Both iOS and Android decode this natively from the built-in camera and offer to join the network, so a guest points their phone at a card on the table and they are online, without anyone reading out a 20-character password. Cafés, salons, offices and guest rooms use them constantly. This tool escapes the characters that would otherwise break the format, so SSIDs and passwords containing semicolons, colons, commas or quotes are handled correctly.
Be clear-eyed about what this is: the password sits in plain text inside the code. A QR code is not encrypted and is not a security feature — anyone who can photograph the sticker has your WiFi password forever, and can pass the photo on. That is fine for a guest network you are happy for visitors to have; it is a bad idea for the network your NAS and printers live on. Set up a guest network and encode that.
