About the Open Graph Generator

The Open Graph Generator builds the og: and twitter: meta tags that control how your link looks when it is shared on Facebook, LinkedIn, X and similar platforms — the title, description, URL, image, site name and content type. It also draws a live preview card so you can see the likely layout as you fill in the fields, and it automatically selects the large-image Twitter card when you supply an image and the smaller summary card when you do not.

Use it whenever you want a shared link to show a proper headline and picture instead of a bare URL. The recommended share image is around 1200×630 pixels, which most platforms crop cleanly. Everything runs in your browser, so nothing you enter is uploaded.

One honest caveat: the preview is an approximation. Each network renders and crops share cards a little differently, and — importantly — they cache them. If you change your tags after a link has already been shared, the old card can linger until you re-scrape the URL with that platform’s sharing debugger. Pair this with the meta tag generator for your core SEO tags, or the robots.txt generator to guide crawlers.

Frequently asked questions

Why doesn’t my updated card show when I share the link?

Platforms cache share cards. After changing your tags, run the URL through the network’s sharing debugger (Facebook, LinkedIn and X each provide one) to force a re-scrape and refresh the cached preview.

What image size should I use?

Around 1200×630 pixels is the common recommendation. It fills the large summary card cleanly on most platforms and leaves room for the crop each one applies.

Is the preview exactly what people will see?

No. It is a close approximation. Each platform styles, crops and truncates share cards slightly differently, so treat the preview as a guide rather than a pixel-perfect render.

Do I still need regular meta tags?

Yes. Open Graph tags control social share cards, not search-result listings. Use them alongside a normal title and meta description so search engines and social platforms are both covered.

Does anything I enter get uploaded?

No. The tags and preview are generated entirely in your browser; nothing you type is sent to a server or stored.
