About the Background Remover
Background Remover automatically cuts the background out of a photo and gives you back a clean PNG with a transparent background — ready to drop onto a new colour, a product page, a logo or a design. It runs a real AI segmentation model (U2Net) entirely in your browser, so your image is never uploaded to any server. The first time you use it, the browser downloads the model and engine (about 15 MB) and then caches them, so later runs start instantly.
It works best on a photo with one clear main subject — a person, a product, an animal or an object that stands out from its background. The model finds that subject and makes everything else transparent. Fine details like loose hair or thin, semi-transparent edges are the hard part for any automatic tool, so results there can be soft. Because everything happens locally, it is genuinely private and free with no watermark. Once you have the cut-out, open it in the image editor to place it on a new background, or use the image converter to change its format.
