About the Merge PDF
Merge PDF joins two or more PDFs end to end into a single file, in the order you selected them. The tool first tries FPDI, which copies each page across as it is; if a PDF uses the newer compressed cross-reference streams that FPDI’s free parser cannot read, it falls back to Ghostscript, which rewrites the whole document instead. Either way, one PDF comes back.
Reach for it when you are combining scanned pages, appending an appendix to a report, or stitching chapters together. For the opposite job, split PDF pulls a file apart by page or range. If what you actually have is a folder of photos rather than PDFs, JPG to PDF is the right starting point.
The real limitation is that only page content travels across: bookmarks, form fields, annotations and internal links from the originals are dropped, so a merged interactive form arrives flat. Password-protected PDFs cannot be read at all and will fail. Your files are uploaded to our server, stored under random names in a folder that is not reachable from the web, merged, then deleted when the request finishes. Each file must be under 20 MB, 25 MB in total, up to 20 files.
Frequently asked questions
Do the pages stay in the order I chose?
Yes — files are merged in the order they appear in the upload box, and every page within each file keeps its original sequence. Reorder your selection before uploading if you need something different.
Why did one of my PDFs fail to merge?
Almost always because it is password-protected — encrypted files cannot be parsed at all, so remove the password first. If the file is merely damaged, try Repair PDF and merge the rebuilt copy.
Will my fillable form still work afterwards?
No. Merging copies page appearance, not interactivity, so form fields, annotations and bookmarks are lost. Fill the form in first, then merge the completed version.
How many files can I merge, and how big?
Between 2 and 20 PDFs per merge, each under 20 MB, and no more than 25 MB across the whole upload. For larger jobs, merge in groups and then merge the results.
What actually happens to my files?
They are uploaded to our server — this is not a browser-only tool — given random filenames inside a folder blocked from web access, merged, and every temporary file is deleted at the end of the request. Nothing is stored or logged.
