About the Add Page Numbers
This tool stamps a page number onto every page of your PDF in 10 pt Helvetica, dark grey, sitting 10 mm from the edge in whichever of six positions you pick — bottom or top, and left, centre or right. You can start the count from any number, handy when a document continues from another one, or when a cover page should not be page 1.
Numbers make reports, contracts and handouts referenceable, and it is easier to add them here than to fight a word processor once the PDF exists. If you are numbering a document you assembled yourself, do it after merge PDF rather than before, so the count runs continuously across the whole thing. For a diagonal DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL stamp instead, use watermark PDF.
Honest limitations. It is the bare number and nothing else — no “Page 3 of 12”, no prefixes, no font or size choice, and no way to skip a cover page or number only part of a document. Every page gets one. The number is drawn over whatever is there, so on a page whose content runs into the margin it can overlap; a different position usually solves that. Pages are re-imported, so form fields, annotations and bookmarks are dropped, and encrypted PDFs cannot be read. Uploads are processed under random names in a non-public folder and deleted when the request ends. One file, 20 MB.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use a “Page 3 of 12” format?
No. Only the plain number is stamped — there is no prefix, suffix or total-pages option.
Can I skip the cover page?
Not directly; every page is numbered. As a workaround, extract pages 2 onward, number those starting at 2, then merge the cover back on.
Can I change the font or size?
No. Numbers are fixed at 10 pt Helvetica in dark grey. The only choices are the position and the starting number.
Will the number cover my content?
It sits 10 mm from the page edge, which is clear on most documents. If your layout runs right to the edge, pick a position with more empty space.
Why start at a number other than 1?
Because your document may be part two of a set, or its front matter may be numbered separately. Setting the start keeps the count continuous.
