How to use the Online Notepad

  1. Start typing — there is nothing to set up.
  2. Your note saves itself in this browser as you write.
  3. Download it as a .txt file whenever you want a copy.

About the Online Notepad

This online notepad is a simple, quiet place to write. There is no account, no formatting clutter and no toolbar to fight with — just a large writing area and a live count of your words and characters. It is perfect for a quick scratch pad, a draft you will paste elsewhere, a checklist, or somewhere to park text while you work.

Everything you type is saved automatically in your own browser using local storage, so if you close the tab and come back later, your note is still there. That also means it stays on your device — nothing is uploaded to a server. When you want to keep a permanent copy, one click downloads your note as a plain .txt file you can open anywhere. Because the note lives in this browser, clearing your browser data or using a different device or a private window will not show the same note.

Need to count or analyse the text more closely? Try the word counter. Want to hear your draft read back to catch mistakes? Use text to speech, or fix capitalisation with the case converter.

Frequently asked questions

Where is my note stored?

In your browser's local storage, on your own device. It is not sent to any server, so only you can see it on this browser.

Will I lose my note if I close the tab?

No. It saves as you type and reloads automatically next time. For a permanent backup, use the Download .txt button.

Can I see the same note on my phone and laptop?

No, the note is tied to the specific browser you wrote it in. To move it, download the .txt file and open it on the other device.
