About the Speech to Text

The transcription uses your browser's built-in speech recognition, which works best in Chrome and Edge. It handles continuous speech, so you can dictate several sentences at a time; speaking clearly and pausing between thoughts gives the cleanest results. Punctuation is not added automatically, so you may want to tidy the text afterwards — the built-in Copy and Clear buttons make that quick.
A note on privacy: to recognise speech, the browser may stream audio to its own speech service, so treat highly sensitive dictation with the same care you would any cloud feature. To read text back the other way, use text to speech, or clean up your transcript in the online notepad.
Frequently asked questions
Which browsers support voice typing?
Chrome and Microsoft Edge have the best support. Safari and Firefox may not offer speech recognition, in which case the tool will tell you.
Why is nothing appearing when I talk?
Make sure you allowed microphone access when prompted, that the right microphone is selected in your system, and that you picked the correct language.
Does it add punctuation?
No, most browser engines transcribe words only. You can add commas and full stops afterwards, or say the punctuation aloud in some languages.
